J&E Sports launches subsidiary J&E Sports Baltic

J&E Sports has launched its new subsidiary J&E Sports Baltic, based in Panevėžys, the capital of the northern district of Lithuania. From this location, the subsidiary will focus on the Baltic States, Scandinavia, Ukraine, and the western regions of Russia.

“J&E Sports has aimed to expand its activities towards the Baltic region since 2015. With the establishment of J&E Sports Baltic, we have now realised this ambition,” explains J&E Sports owner  John van Gennip.

Market Development

The new company will operate from Lithuania to develop the regional market in areas such as landscaping, as well as the construction and maintenance of outdoor sports fields, tennis courts, public playgrounds, and small community pitches.

“The standard of living in this part of the world is still relatively low, but the economy is growing,” Van Gennip notes. “Investment, especially in the larger cities, is increasing. The private market offers significant opportunities, and in public spaces, it is up to J&E Sports Baltic to create demand. Many public fields and playgrounds currently consist of nothing more than grass, with goals and other sports and play equipment placed directly on it. The climate is similar to that of the Netherlands, meaning that many of these fields quickly turn into muddy ground due to rainfall.”

General Manager

Daumantas Turčinskas has been appointed as Managing Director. Turčinskas brings many years of knowledge and experience from his role as project supervisor at J&E Sports in Oss.
“Our valued colleague Turčinskas had long wished to start his own business in Lithuania. We combined the founding of J&E Sports Baltic with his ambition,” says Van Gennip.

J&E Sports takes a seat in the luxury sky box TOP Oss

On 25 November, TOP Oss officially opened its new Business Plaza, consisting of a business lounge and ten luxury skyboxes. As a true Oss-based company and enthusiastic supporter of the club, J&E Sports has purchased one of these skyboxes.

John van Gennip, Managing Director and owner of J&E Sports, explains: “We will use the skybox as a meeting room for discussions with our parent company Antea Group and for consultations with our clients. The space is also suitable for small celebrations, business dinners or informal gatherings with business relations.”

The opening of the Business Plaza was made even more festive for all sponsors and relations present, as FC Oss won their match that day against Jong FC Utrecht with an impressive 4–2 victory.

At the Heart of the Community

For J&E Sports, the line between business and the football club is a thin one. “We are a true Oss company and we are big fans of this club,” says Van Gennip.
The skybox of the artificial turf installation and maintenance company proudly displays a large Top Oss flag on the wall—the name FC Oss carried between 1994 and 2009.
“J&E Sports is deeply rooted in the community, and FC Oss has been our club for many years.”

Oss van Morgen

Business Plaza forms part of the municipal development plan Oss van Morgen. In this area, new housing has been built in and around the existing parks, the old hospital grounds have been redeveloped, and the Talentencampus has been established. This campus aims to create synergy between education and the business community. It consists of two components: Central Plaza, with education provided by a regional training centre (ROC), and Business Plaza, home to various companies that offer internships to ROC students.

FC Oss plays an important role in the municipal strategy, which aims to increase the appeal of the area for residents and businesses by promoting health, well-being and sporting activity.

Zembla broadcast SBR rubber granulate

On Wednesday 5 October, the TV programme Zembla highlighted potential health risks related to playing on artificial turf football pitches with SBR rubber infill.

J&E Sports has taken note of this broadcast. If there are questions concerning safety, it is important that these are addressed. The health and well-being of players are also of great importance to us. We comply with all laws and regulations regarding the construction of sports facilities as set out by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), and we will continue to follow any new developments in legislation and regulations. Various studies have been conducted on this subject in the past.

Ready on Time for the Hockey World Cup

Despite heavy time pressure and challenging weather conditions, J&E Sports successfully completed the installation of two GreenFields water-based hockey pitches in time for the Hockey World Cup.

J&E Sports was responsible for the full installation of both GreenFields water-based pitches. Despite the tight schedule and poor weather, our team ensured that the fields were fully playable at the start of the Hockey World Cup in The Hague.

J&E Sports Athletic Track Cleaner

To provide our athletics clients with an even higher level of service, J&E Sports has invested in a state-of-the-art athletics track cleaner. After treatment with this machine, every track looks as good as new. In addition to athletics tracks, the cleaner is also suitable for artificial hockey pitches, where it effortlessly removes algae, moss and other contamination.

The front-mounted unit, the KBR 200, was developed by Hörger in Germany. It is a rotor deck capable of cleaning with water pressure up to 200 bar. This pressure, combined with two rotating brushes, ensures that stubborn dirt is loosened even more effectively. Thanks to the powerful Venturi system, the dirty water is extracted immediately, leaving no trace of residue behind. The unit is driven by a Holder machine carrier with a strong output of 80 HP, allowing the cleaner to operate at full capacity.

The large 1450-litre tank, developed by ATC Cleaning, features a membrane that divides the tank, ensuring maximum capacity for both clean and dirty water. All individual components have been expertly integrated by Buuts Meulenpasfrom Oss, resulting in this outstanding J&E Sports Athletics Track Cleaner.

DURABLE SEALING TECHNIQUE FOR ARTIFICIAL TURF PITCHES

The demand for sustainable and recyclable artificial turf systems is increasing. Several solutions have already been developed to make artificial turf more sustainable, such as TenCate’s innovative woven turf. Until now, however, no efficient solution had been found for the sustainable installation of recyclable artificial turf. J&E Sports, the market leader in artificial turf construction, has now developed a sustainable sealing technique that enables such fields to be installed quickly, seamlessly and in an environmentally responsible manner—while ensuring that the entire field remains fully recyclable. The new method, Sealen by J&E Sports, was successfully introduced this week during the construction of the new artificial turf pitch for Heracles Almelo.

Previously, sustainable installation often involved stitching the rolls of artificial turf together. The drawback of this method is that it is time-consuming and extremely difficult to achieve a seamless result. In addition, the line markings could not be stitched and therefore still had to be glued. As a result, such a field could no longer be fully recycled at the end of its lifespan.

J&E Sports has long been searching for a solution in which both the tape and the adhesive carrier share the same material DNA as the artificial turf. This ensures that the entire system can be fully recycled once it reaches the end of its service life. Together with BIT and H.B. Fuller, this solution has been found in sealing the turf rolls using a special hotmelt. The new method, Sealen by J&E Sports, uses an extremely strong hotmelt that emits less heat to the surrounding materials, preventing the fibres and backing from melting or deforming. In addition, the adhesive speed can be adjusted steplessly and the adhesive thickness can be precisely controlled.

With this innovation, J&E Sports now offers a sustainable, cost-effective installation technique that can compete with the speed of traditional gluing while retaining the environmental benefits of stitching artificial turf together. Based on the positive experience gained during the installation of the new artificial turf field for Heracles Almelo, J&E Sports has already received enquiries from both domestic and international markets for the application of its new Sealen by J&E Sports method.
